Renaissance College is seeking to appoint an Educational Psychologist starting in Aug 2025.
Main Accountabilities:
- Deliver a targeted and specialist psychological service of consultation, assessment (including psychometric summative approaches), advice, planning and development work to ESF Schools.
- Develop and apply effective support programmes to promote psychological wellbeing, social, emotional and behavioural development, and to raise educational standards.
- Work with other educational psychologists and colleagues to develop policies and effective evidence-based/informed practice that lead to improvements in the social and learning opportunities for students.
- Liaise with other professionals and agencies to increase the assistance available to ESF and to ensure a concerted approach to meeting student’s needs.
- Convene and chair case conferences as necessary.
- Contribute, as part of a professional team, in providing student support services within ESF.
- Develop and deliver professional learning workshops to teachers, parents and support staff.
- Contribute to the assessment and review of students who have applied for admission to ESF schools and who are considered likely to require learning support.
- Any other reasonable activity at the request of the Lead Educational Psychologist.

Core Professional / Technical Competencies required:
Evidence of commitment, sensitivity, skill and overall competence in working as an Educational Psychologist with children/young people with learning, emotional, behavioural and wellbeing/mental health needs, their parents/carers as well as others who are involved.
Professional competence and confidence in:
- Using a range of psychological assessment tools.
- Developing programmes to support our students.
- Preparing formal reports/recommendations concerning cases and interventions.
- Planning and facilitation of effective meetings, case conferences and CPD sessions.
- Central record keeping.
- Knowledge of a broad range of relevant psychological theory and practice to promote the achievement and wellbeing of children.
- Understanding of neurodiversity and neuro-affirming philosophies and practices in; student services, inclusive education, student wellbeing and child protection.

Ability to:
- Work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to promote and uphold the ESF Vision and Mission.
- Use clear evidence to make decisions and recommendations relating to case work, applied practice and Student Support Services initiatives.
- Be positive, proactive and strategic.
- Lead different teams of people with effective communication skills, practical skills and a sound understanding of the impact of systems change in a school based setting.
- Maintain relationships founded on respect and trust.
- Negotiate and influence positively
- Manage challenging situations with diplomacy and a calm presence of mind.
- Listen and take on board the views and concerns of others, yet have the confidence to voice an opinion and provide direction based on experience and evidence.
Minimum typical education:
- A bachelor’s degree in psychology, or equivalent.
- A master’s or doctorate in the field of Educational Psychology.
- Eligibility to gain registration as an Educational Psychologist (acceptable to the British Psychological Society, Hong Kong Psychological Society or equivalent for graduate membership).
Minimum typical experience:
- Mandatory: at least 3 years’ successful experience as a qualified Educational Psychologist.
- Desirable: classroom teaching experience and qualified teacher status.
- A range of experience working with children and young people of all ages.
