Mark McCourt, a leading figure in maths education, has been appointed chief executive officer at Academy Transformation Trust (ATT).
He succeeds Sir Nick Weller, who became the trust’s CEO in 2022. ATT runs 22 academies across central England, including primary, secondary, special schools and further education colleges.
In a wide-ranging career, Mr McCourt, currently a non-executive director of Bedford-based Advantage Schools, has provided support for major multi-academy trusts, government agencies and ministries, both domestically and overseas.

He has also led significant national initiatives such as the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics and the Teacher Development Trust, and has designed and delivered education improvement initiatives for various governments.
At Tribal Group, he managed numerous education improvement projects globally.
McCourt has also advised large groups of state and independent schools, further education colleges and local authorities. In the private sector he has advised education publishers, edtech companies and education services corporations.
