Job overview

IAbout the role

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic professional to join our team in August 2025.

Bloomsbury was founded in 2014 and offers a British-style curriculum to both day and boarding students. We are very small. There is one class of about 12 students in each year group and we strive to ensure that they are safe, happy and successful.

Computer Science is an established subject at IGCSE, and we will have our first A Level students next year. Our key stage three provision uses schemes developed by the National Centre for Computing Education.

Our computing classroom was re-equipped in 2024 and so has modern hardware, including a 3D printer.

Secondary students bring their own devices to school so all teachers need to be skilled in using technology for learning. The timetable for this colleague is relatively light, and classes are small. We are therefore keen to appoint somebody who can support the integration of learning technology across the curriculum.

In an anonymous survey, at least 96% of staff said they enjoy working here, feel trusted and supported, and believe that leaders take their workload into account when making decisions. 100% say students' behaviour is good.

We are proud to have full accreditation from CIS, the Council of International Schools. In their report of March 2025, our evaluators said: “The school is living its mission to nurture and inspire excellence, global citizenship and lifelong personal growth,” “Teaching practices resonate with the ethos of high quality learning” and students are “enthusiastic learners who find school enjoyable and engaging and develop the necessary skills and dispositions to become successful life-long learners.”

Our students have been highly successful at IGCSE and A Level, achieving 100% pass rates and three Cambridge High Achievement Awards in the last two years.

Safeguarding

All staff are required to share our commitment to keeping our children safe. We will verify references, check perosnal detauils and qualifications, carry out full background checks and require self-disclosure from potential recruits. We follow the recruitment guidelines of the International Task Force on Child Protection.

Location

Hatyai is a vibrant and friendly city in southern Thailand, close to the Malaysian border and only 40 minutes from the beach at Songkhla. It is a regional travel hub with direct flights to Bangkok (16 per day), Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, and easy access to destinations like Krabi, Phuket, Koh Lipe, and Koh Samui.

Hatyai offers an authentic Thai lifestyle, with a low cost of living, a respectful and welcoming local community, and a peaceful environment that is ideal for professionals and families. While it does not have the nightlife of larger cities, there are restaurants, cafés, music venues, and a small but active international community.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will:

Be completely fluent in English
Have UK qualified teacher status or equivalent.
Be experienced and successful in teaching GCSE/IGCSE Computer Science, or a similar subject
Be a champion of the effective use of technology for learning across the curriculum
Be aware of the needs of learners of English as an Additional Language
Be positive, enthusiastic and resilient
Be caring and ready to collaborate in a professional team
Present themselves in a professional manner
